چکیده

A desktop Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for Geotechnical Information Management system has recently been developed to assist geo-technical managers, planners through flexible application with all common desktop GIS functionalities and customized tools like Borehole Viewer and Stripchart to relate alignments and cross-sections to a specific location and/or region on the map, and create thematic maps to perform spatial and non-spatial queries, and print required reports and maps. The software configuration used includes Visual Basic 6.0, Crystal reports VC++ for custom DLL’s, and ESRI MapObjects to fill the gap of domain specific GIS solution to address the need of Geotechnical communities.

Preparation and Evaluation of Engineering Geological Maps in 3-dimensional Geographic Information Systems Environment

Geological engineers have mostly been involved in geotechnical problems since the beginning of 19 century. Engineering geological maps and field data are needed to solve these problems. The amount of data for these maps is extremely large, so putting all the map elements on the map sheet causes difficulties while solving problems. The magic words, Geographic Information System (GIS) is a tool f...

District Selection for Geotechnical Settlement Suitability Using GIS and Multi Criteria Decision Analysis: A Case Study in Denizli, Turkey

Abstract—Multi criteria decision analysis (MDCA) covers both data and experience. It is very common to solve the problems with many parameters and uncertainties. GIS supported solutions improve and speed up the decision process. Weighted grading as a MDCA method is employed for solving the geotechnical problems. In this study, geotechnical parameters namely soil type; SPT (N) blow number, shear...

Assessment of Ground Deformation Due to Soil Liquefaction in the San Jose, California Area by Using Geotechnical It

This paper presents a study on the permanent lateral deformation and potential flow of ground due to soil liquefaction in the San Jose area of Northern California. Assessment of ground deformation by lateral flow is made through the use of a set of geotechnical Information Technologies, including GIS, LiDAR, and FEM analysis. By using a geotechnical database consisting of approximately 600 bore...

The Effects of Geotechnical Material Properties on the Convergence of Iterative Solvers

There is increasing interest in the use of iterative rather than direct solvers for geotechnical finite element analysis. For large 3D problems iterative solvers offer the only possibility of economical solution on a desktop PC. The major stumbling block with iterative solvers is ensuring fast convergence to a suitably accurate solution. The system of equations is always “preconditioned” to imp...
